DAN WITMER
author of ...and piles to go before I sleep - The Book of Wit
Saturday, December 15 at 2:00pm
A retired high school English teacher, Witmer describes battles won and lost, field trip misadventures, memorable moments, and an inside look at snow days, the faculty room, book banning, coaching, and the Common Core. You will smile, laugh and shake your head as you read Witmer's candid memoir.
Dan Witmer taught English at Hannibal Central Central School, NY for thirty-three years. In that time, he also coached three sports, directed the senior play, served on numerous committees, and survived a censorship battle in his first year of teaching - oh yes, and he also supervised the placement of teachers and practicum students, coached lacrosse for twenty-eight years, and raised a family. Occasionally, the work piled up. But he kept his promise to his students: "I'm gonna write that book some day!"
