Booksigning for My Dear Father and Mother
Letters by Clarence T. Leighton: A Soldier in World War I

My Dear Father and Mother by Bert and David LeightonMy Dear Father and Mother is a compilation of facsimiles of letters written by Clarence Leighton, father of Bert's husband Bill, while he was in the U. S. Army Ambulance Service during World War I. The letters - originally stored in the author's attic - provide readers with a unique perspective during a time of war through the personal correspondence (from June 1917 through May 1919) of a son to his parents.

Bert Leighton is a former elementary school teacher who resides in Oswego. Before she became involved in publishing the WWI letters, she was busy filling her retirement years with art activities, including the Art Association of Oswego and participation in Riverside Artisans in downtown Oswego. David Leighton, Bert's son, lives in Syracuse with his wife, Cecilia and is a retired science teacher.
